If you follow me on twitter or are a friend on FB then you surely have seen random ramblings about PSO, Photog Shootouts or just “shootouts” in general.  Sometimes I get a little carried away with them so forgive me!

So, shootouts are learning based events by photographers for photographers.  There are a super wide range of abilities at the events ranging from 10+ years to folks who just bought their first DSLR yesterday!  The great thing about the events are that what ever level you get to attend and learn something or share something to help another learn.  We usually have “pros” leading our groups (but have been known to have just knowledgeable hobbyists) and subjects can be from basic camera functions, posing and directing posing, to post processing and building a business.

The one thing that keeps bringing us all together is just a simple box with a hole.  That hole captures light.  Light in it’s purest form is nothing but magical!  I have yet to meet someone who walks away from an event and learned nothing… and that goes for the seasoned professionals too ; )

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the last San Diego Shootout at Balboa Park : Picnic ‘n’ Pictures.  This event was a picnic that focused on off camera flash, fill flash, posing and head shots featuring our dedicated attendees!  We had a blast and got some awesome pictures with our own money makers, ohh yeah! Show me the money maker!! HA! Hope to see you ’round the next event!
